Over $1M in New Funding for Bancroft Schools

Deception Bay schools are getting a rage of new projects and upgrades.

$754,000 is going to:

  • Deception Bay High School - $154,000 to fix and upgrade covered areas and seating,

  • Deception Bay State School - $250,000 to refurbish Block K and provide much needed consultation rooms for students,

  • Deception Bay North State School - $350,000 for a playground and landscaping project.

There is almost $1.3 million in new funding going towards schools in Bancroft as part of a $220 million investment across Queensland, improving school facilities and supporting more than 720 jobs.

“This is a big boost to the schools in Deception Bay and for local tradies who can tender for these projects,” said Chris Whiting MP.

“I worked hard to get projects and upgrades happening at Deception Bay schools and it is refreshing to see the hard work pay off.

“Smaller projects can be done quickly and can be done by local companies, so it puts money directly into our local economy and helps us start the recovery from COVID-19.

“Interested tradies and contractors should contact the business manager in schools located in their local area.

“Contractors and tradies who want to be notified of opportunities for any future tender processes for larger projects can register on the Queensland Government QTenders website.

“There is $711,000 worth of maintenance to be done at our local state schools, too.

“We’re also supporting a consistent pipeline of work through the rollout of our Cooler Cleaner Schools Program.

“$477 million Cooler Cleaner Schools Program will support more than 1,500 jobs between now and June 2022 when its due to be completed.

“Over 650 schools across Queensland will benefit from air conditioning installations, making some 10,000 classrooms cooler and more comfortable.

“The program will also provide an additional $71 million over 3 years to create a virtual solar farm on school rooftops that will be used to power these additional air conditioners across the state,” said Chris Whiting.
