Get Active and Creative these School Holidays!
Get off the couch and head outdoors with Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Autumn Active Holidays program which is jam-packed with high-energy activities for kids aged 3-17.
Bookings open on March 26 for the Autumn Active Holidays program, which runs from Saturday 6 until Thursday 18 April.
Launch into gymnastics, conquer your fear of heights by abseiling The Tower at Baden Powell Park or if you prefer the water, kids can learn stand up paddle boarding, synchronised swimming and even water polo.
For those keen to pick up culinary skills, come and learn how to make fresh and healthy versions of popular street food dishes through a cooking workshop.
Council Spokesperson for Parks, Recreation and Sport, Councillor Koliana Winchester, said the Active Holiday program was a great win for parents with most sessions being free or only $5 per child.
“School holidays can be a stressful time for parents - thinking of activities to keep young minds happy and occupied as well as associated costs,” Cr Winchester said.
“All activities are operated by qualified instructors in our local parks and facilities across the region, so you can rest assured that your little ones are in safe hands.”
Council Spokesperson for Lifestyle and Amenity, Councillor Denise Sims, said there were more than 60 Active Holiday sessions on offer across the two weeks.
“We all know how important it is for our children to lead an active lifestyle,” Cr Sims said.
“Encourage your kids to burn off some energy so you can get some much-needed downtime.”
Council’s galleries and museums will also be holding school holiday workshops, and activities as well as self-paced children’s activities over 10 days. From National Youth Week celebrations to turtle time and dugong exploration, APT9 Kids on Tour as well as mini workshops.
